Transportation
The U.S. Secretary of Transportation told a meeting of Governors in February of 2008 that they have the "opportunity to unleash the greatest new wave of transportation investment this country has ever seen". FW&A is at the forefront of this revolution in transportation as more cities and states look at their options for addressing congestion and bolstering the declining infrastructure of roads and bridges. To address this, leaders will need to evaluate public-private partnerships, toll roads, high occupancy traffic (HOT) or managed lanes, and other initiatives - areas where FW&A has spent more than 20 years.

Planning
The role of FW&A begins long before the first shovel of dirt is turned. It starts with helping transportation agencies understand how to successfully communicate the need for improved transportation to a citizenry with limited knowledge of transportation finance and planning issues.
Public Private Partnerships
Because funds at the state and federal level for transportation are more limited than ever, innovative transportation agencies are turning to public-private partnerships to facilitate completion of key projects. In the transportation sector, FW&A has taken a leadership position in developing comprehensive communications and outreach programs to assist agencies and private capital companies in successfully communicating their intent to assist in the creation of new roadways, such as the South Bay Expressway in San Diego County.
Construction
The long-term success of transportation projects - either new to an area or on existing facilities - begins with a well managed communications program for the construction management phase of the project. FW&A has perfected a formula for working through the construction process - including outreach during the environmental and design phases, support of traffic management operations and interaction with key affected stakeholders, business leaders and residents adjoining the project area throughout the construction period.
